How the program Works



​What is it?

 

Esol Mentoring and Tutoring Program is an initiative aimed to target talent in our communities. The main objective will be to provide mentoring to grade 10 learners up until they reach their grade 12. The program will target learners who are academically capable and come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Hence there is a selection criterion that has been put in place to ensure that our objectives are met.

Selection Criteria​

There will be 10 eligible grade 10 learners selected from each of the following schools: Mmadikana, Ramogabudi, Tetema, Masodi and Kgathi ya Moshate. In January 2013, we approached the above mentioned schools to get us top ten (5 Science & 5 Commerce) of their grade 10 learners. In total we will have 50 top grade 10 learners, 25 commerce and 25 science . We used their grade 9 school reports to select them.
 

Mentoring

The 50 learners have been divided into 10 groups each having five learners. There are 10 eligible mentors who guide and inspire the learners.
 

Who’s eligible to be a mentor?

We chose a team of highly dedicated, effective and motivated mentors, mentors who will prioritize their tasks. Mentors are expected to lead, guide, encourage and motivate these learners. They keep in communication with the learners regularly.
